1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also have carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
