Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

Components

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the item to which it is used (for instance "Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence characteristics of an armored weapon or. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic.
